Porch of Church at Beuvreil, Normandy.
This is a photograph of the Porch of Church at Beuvreil, Normandy. Note the rough hewn timber making up the supporting beams of the porch. It would seem that the beams were cut to size using an axe and not a saw and then fitted together with irregular shapes.
Akthough not technically a farmhouse, little country churches like these served the farming communities of Normandy and were the centers of social life until the two World Wars brought irreversible change to the area.
